Temple signed a three-year, $24 million contract with the Kings on Sunday, Sam Amick of the Sacramento Bee reports.Temple managed a career-year this past season, playing in 80 games with the Wizards and posting averages of 7.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists over 24 minutes. With the Kings unlikely to re-sign Rajon Rondo, they needed some more bodies in the backcourt, so look for Temple to fill that need as a depth option. Temple has recently shown an improved three-point shot, to go along with his already solid defensive capabilities, so that could earn the 30-year-old a significant spot in the team’s rotation as the season approaches.

Temple had the best season of his career as he ended up starting in 43 of the 80 games that he played in due to injuries suffered by teammate Bradley Beal throughout the season.Temple made the most of Bradley Beal’s absence, averaging a career-high 7.3 points per game that included 26 double-digit performances. He is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, but Beal is a restricted free agent and might remain with Washington. Regardless of how the situation turns out, Temple figures to be a limited option next year who struggles with shooting efficiency (under 40 percent from the field this season) and amassing counting stats. In fact, it’s entirely possible that the 2015-16 season will be the best campaign of his career.

Temple totaled 12 points (4-7 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-3 FT), one rebound, one assist, one steal, and one block across 16 minutes during the Wizards’ 109-98 win over the Hawks on Wednesday.Temple scored in double figures during both of the last two matchups this season, finishing April with averages of 6.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and one steal in 20 minutes. The soon-to-be unrestricted free agent played fairly well when called upon due to injuries over the course of the year, but Temple and the Wizards ultimately fell just a few games short of the playoffs.

Temple is in the starting lineup for Thursday’s game against the Jazz, Jorge Castillo of the Washington Post reports.Coach Randy Wittman plans on monitoring Bradley Beal’s minutes during the Wizards’ back-to-back-to-back set beginning Thursday, so Temple will draw the start against Utah. In 29 starts this season, Temple has averaged 11.2 points (41.5% FG), 3.0 rebounds, and 2.6 assists over 32.2 minutes.

Temple contributed three points (1-2 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-3 FT), three rebounds, and two steals in 16 minutes of action in Thursday’s loss to the Bucks.Temple saw his minutes slashed on Thursday, seeing the least amount of action since Dec. 9. The 29-year-olds minutes may continue to decline after the All-Star break with Bradley Beal continuing to take on heavier workload as he returns to full strength after suffering a stress reaction in his right leg.
