Teague (knee) was traded to the Pacers on Wednesday as part of a three-team deal, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports. The Pacers will send George Hill to the Jazz in the trade, while the Hawks will acquire the 12th overall pick in Thursday’s NBA Draft from Utah. With Dennis Schroder excelling in a reserve role last season and showing the Hawks that he’s capable of taking the reins as the team’s starting point guard, Teague became expendable and will open $8 million in cap space for the team. For his new team, Teague should claim Hill’s spot in the starting lineup, but he doesn’t figure to notice much of a boost in his 2015-16 averages of 15.7 points and 5.9 assists per game with the Pacers’ offense running through high-volume All-Star Paul George. Nonetheless, the Pacers seem to view the 28-year-old a building block, as they plan to work on a contract extension with Teague before he becomes a free agent in 2017, according to Wojnarowski. Teague was hampered by a torn patellar tendon last season, but he should be fully healthy by the time training camp begins in the fall.
June 9, 2016
Teague said he played all of the 2015-16 season with a tear in his patella.Teague claims that he was hampered all season, and he pulled it off without hurting his stock. He somehow still averaged 15.7 points, 6.0 assists, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.2 steals in 29 minutes per game, which are all very similar numbers to his 2014-15 season averages. The point guard also mentioned that he’s had the injury taken care of since the end of the season, so he should be expected to open 2016-17 at full strength.
May 7, 2016
Teague will not face further discipline from the NBA for his flagrant 1 foul on LeBron James during Friday’s Game 3 loss to Cleveland, Chris Haynes of the Plain Dealer reports. The NBA reviewed the play and has decided to uphold the flagrant 1 call, but Teague will not face a fine or a suspension. Expect to see the point guard in the starting lineup Sunday as the Hawks look to avoid being swept off their home court by the Cavs for the second straight year.
May 5, 2016
Teague tallied 14 points (3-10 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 8-9 FT), six assists, and three rebounds across 23 minutes in Wednesday’s 123-98 loss in Game 2 of the series. After ceding minutes to the hot-shooting Dennis Schroder in the Hawks’ Game 1 loss, Teague saw less than 30 minutes for the fourth straight postseason contest, but it certainly wasn’t the point guard’s own doing this time. While Teague didn’t help matters by shooting only 3-for-10 from the floor, the Hawks could do absolutely nothing to counter the Cavs’ historic proficiency from three-point range, as the opponents hit an astonishing 18 three-pointers in the first half to go into the break with a 74-38 lead. That huge advantage prompted coach Mike Budenholzer to concede defeat and rest Teague and his other starters for much of the second half. The Hawks should be more competitive as the series shifts to Atlanta for Friday’s Game 3, but Teague will probably need to step up his game in a big way if his team is to claim a win in the second round.
April 29, 2016
Teague collected 11 points (4-11 FG, 3-4 FT), five assists and a rebound over 25 minutes in Thursday’s 104-92 series-clinching victory over the Celtics.Teague finished the last two weeks of the regular season with an offensive flourish, averaging 22.0 points over the Hawks’ last six regular-season games. He generated a rather modest 16.5 points per contest against the Celtics in the first round, but in fairness, was matched up against one of the stingiest defenses versus point guards this past season. The veteran did hit double-digit scoring in all six games of the first round, and was generally effective as a ball distributor as well. The 27-year-old could well see his contributions rise in the second round, as Kyrie Irving likely represents one of the paths of lesser resistance on a tough Cavaliers defense.

Thanks to a three-day break in the team’s schedule, however, Teague doesn’t seem at much risk of missing Wednesday’s game, nor should he face any playing time restrictions.

Teague (ankle) is expected to play Sunday against the Magic, the Atlanta Journal Constitution’s Chris Vivlamore reports. He was not placed on the injury report Saturday, so it would seem he can play through the ankle injury he suffered Friday against the Celtics. That said, Dennis Schroder is a more than capable backup, so he could spell Teague if the Hawks want to give him slightly less run than normal on Sunday.

Teague turned his ankle in the third quarter of Friday’s game against the Celtics, but was held out just for precautionary reasons, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.Teague reportedly could have returned to the game, but the play of Dennis Schroeder and the time he spent on the bench after turning his ankle led to the team holding him out for the remainder of the contest. It doesn’t sound as if the issue is serious in nature, but its worth monitoring his status heading into Sunday’s game versus the Magic to ensure nothing more comes of the issue.

Teague (ankle) is listed as probable for Tuesday’s game against the Celtics, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.Teague, who returned from a three-game absence to log 26 minutes off the bench in Saturday’s loss to the Cavaliers, is expected to reclaim his role as the starting point guard Tuesday, though the team hasn’t offered confirmation on that. Nevertheless, the fact that Teague is listed as probable Tuesday is encouraging as the Hawks head into a back-to-back set that will conclude in Minnesota on Wednesday. Teague could see his minutes limited across both contests, but the expectation is that he won’t be rested for either game.

Teague (finger) will start Friday against the Pelicans, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.Teague injured his finger Sunday against the Hornets, but he still participated in the Hawks’ last two games, so it comes as no surprise that he will start against New Orleans. The point guard’s injury doesn’t seem too serious as he dropped 26 points against the Heat on Tuesday and 16 points during Wednesday’s victory over Brooklyn.

Teague (finger) is considered probable for Friday’s matchup with the Pelicans, KL Chouinard of Hawks.com reports.Teague sprained the finger over the weekend, but he played both Tuesday and Wednesday, so it’s unlikely that he misses a beat Friday. Teague and Dennis Schroder started in the backcourt Wednesday with Kyle Korver (rest) sitting out, but with both Korver and Thabo Sefolosha (rest) expected back Friday, the Hawks may make another adjustment to the starting five.

Teague (finger) scored 16 points (4-8 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 8-10 FT) and collected six assists, three steals, one rebound, and one blocked shot over 28 minutes in Wednesday’s victory over the Nets. The finger injury shouldn’t be viewed as a concern at this point, as Teague has played two straight games with the issue and has shown no noticeable decline in the quality of his play. Through six contests this season, Teague is averaging 19.2 points, 5.8 assists, 3.3 boards, and one steal per game.

Teague underwent X-rays after Sunday’s game against the Hornets and was diagnosed with a sore finger, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. It appears the examination on Teague’s finger was precautionary, as it didn’t result in him missing any notable action in Sunday’s win. More importantly, Teague turned in an effective outing in that contest, scoring 18 points and adding six rebounds and four assists. He should be ready to assume a heavy load of minutes beginning with Tuesday’s game against the Heat.
