Horford has agreed to sign a four-year, $113 million contract with the Celtics, Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reports.Horford was one of the leagues most coveted free agents and had several teams vying for his services. He was an All-Star in 2016, and will be a large and immediate upgrade to the Celtics’ front court. Horford averaged 15.2 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.5 blocks, while shooting 51 percent in 32.1 minutes per game last season with the Hawks.
April 29, 2016
Horford registered 15 points (7-10 FG, 1-2 3Pt), four rebounds, two assists, three blocks and two steals over 30 minutes in Thursday’s 104-92 series-clinching victory over the Celtics. The veteran big man turned in an efficient performance in the decisive victory, his first double-digit scoring effort since Game 2 of the series. It was a particularly resurgent shooting showing for Horford, who’d topped out at a 40 percent success rate from the field over the last three games, and had bottomed out at 18 percent in Game 5 on Tuesday. Like many of his teammates, Horford’s play, particularly on offense, will likely need to come up several notches for the Hawks to remain competitive in their second-round series versus the Cavs. He finished the first round with averages of 12.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.7 blocks and 1.3 steals.
April 27, 2016
Horford (groin) collected six points (2-11 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, four assists, two steals, and one block across 24 minutes in Tuesday’s 110-83 Game 5 loss to the Celtics.Horford’s groin injury didn’t prevent him from suiting up, but he still turned in an ineffective stat line, thanks largely to his 2-for-11 mark from the field. Fortunately, the Hawks bench stepped up in a huge way to lead the team to a blowout victory, but Horford will probably need to step up in Game 6 after two subpar games in a row. Over that last pair of contests, Horford is averaging 5.5 points (on 4-for-19 shooting from the floor) to go along with 8.5 boards, 4.5 assists, 1.5 steals, and one block over 31 minutes.
April 26, 2016
Horford (groin) was removed from the Hawks’ injury report Tuesday, and plans to be in the starting lineup once again for Game 5 against the Celtics, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.Horford was originally considered probable for Tuesday’s matchup, but has avoided any setbacks to a strained left groin suffered during Friday’s Game 3 loss. Expect Horford to once again be used to full capacity Tuesday after he logged 38 minutes in Sunday’s Game 4.
April 25, 2016
Horford (groin) is considered probable for Tuesday’s Game 5 against the Celtics, Chris Vivlamore of the Journal-Constitution reports.Horford was also probably heading into Sunday’s Game 4 overtime loss in which he posted five points to go along with nine rebounds in 38 minutes. Barring a setback prior to game time on Tuesday, expect Horford to be right back in the starting lineup without any playing time limitations.
