April 26, 2016
Gortat had a strong 2015-16 season, nearly averaging a double-double.Gortat shot a career-high 56.7 percent from the field. This was good for 13.5 points per game to go along with 9.9 rebounds. Although he missed a total of seven games, the 32-year-old had a great bill of health, only missing three games in mid-January with a knee infection. Gortat additionally missed three games in December to be with his sick mother in Poland and sat out the final game for rest since the team wasn’t playoff bound. Gortat will look to continue his success in Washington next year and should be taken in mid-rounds of standard league drafts with three guaranteed years still remaining on his current contract.
April 13, 2016
Gortat is out of the lineup for the Wizards’ season finale Wednesday against the Hawks, Steve Buckhantz of the team’s official site reports.Gortat will join John Wall, Bradley Beal, and Markieff Morris on the pine. In the quartet’s stead, expect some combination of Nene, JJ Hickson, Jared Dudley, and Drew Gooden to dominate the workload in the frontcourt.
April 10, 2016
Gortat recorded a double-double with 21 points (10-11 FG, 1-2 FT) and 13 rebounds to go along with four assists and a block across 31 minutes during Sunday’s win over the Hornets. The center took advantage of a soft Charlotte front court to deliver his first 20-10 game in nearly two months, posting his highest assist total during that time-frame as well. Gortat could assume a slightly heavier workload on the offensive end if John Wall (knee) continues to sit, making him a solid fantasy option considering his ability to contribute in rebounds and blocks as well.
April 4, 2016
Gortat compiled 21 points (10-12 FG, 1-2 FT), seven rebounds, and one assist in 29 minutes during the Wizards’ 114-109 loss to the Clippers on Sunday.Gortat had five fouls, which may have resulted in less playing time. Regardless, he was as efficient as it gets on offense, making 10 of his 12 attempts. Wizards’ guard John Wall makes life easy for Gortat, setting him up for lots of easy dives to the rim. Still, the season is winding down, and it would take more than a minor miracle for Washington to make the playoffs now that they are four games back of eighth place with only five games remaining. Still, until the team is officially eliminated from playoff contention, expect Gortat to continue putting up quality numbers.
April 2, 2016
Gortat tallied 11 points (4-10 FG, 3-5 FT), 11 rebounds and two blocks over 29 minutes in Friday’s 106-99 victory over the Suns. The veteran center got back into double digits with his scoring after a pair of games where he averaged only 7.5 points. Gortat’s work on the glass has remained consistently strong however, as he’s now managed six straight double-digit rebound games, and eight in his last nine contests. Frontcourt mate Markieff Morris took on some extra offensive load Friday in his battle against former teammates, but Gortat continues to be a solid source of production in points and rebounds.

Gortat is listed as questionable for Monday’s game against the Hawks with a sore lower back, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.Gortat has been dealing with back soreness for a little less than a week, but after he was limited in the March 16 win over the Bulls, he’s since assumed a full minutes load in the Wizards’ last two games, recording double-doubles in both contests. With the Wizards on the outside looking in for a playoff spot at the moment, expect Gortat to fight through any lingering pain and suit up Monday. Confirmation on his availability should arrive after the team holds their morning shootaround.

Gortat (knee) has been ruled out for Wednesday’s matchup with the Bucks, Jorge Castillo of The Washington Post reports.Gortat is battling an infection in his left knee, and after missing shootaround Wednesday morning, the team has made the call to rule him out. Nene Hilario is expected to pick up a second straight start in Gortat’s absence. Though Gortat was hospitalized Tuesday, the infection isn’t believed to be anything that will keep him out long term, so he could be available as soon as Friday’s game against the Pacers.

Status: OUT
Gortat, who has been ruled out of Wednesday’s game against the Bucks, has been diagnosed with an infection in his knee, but it isn’t considered a staph infection, J. Michael of CSN Mid-Atlantic reports.A staph infection would have been a far more serious concern for Gortat, but the center’s injury as it’s currently being diagnosed will leave him as day-to-day heading into Friday’s matchup with the Pacers. The Wizards should have another update on Gortat’s status again by Friday morning. In the meantime, Nene Hilario is expected to make another start at center in Gortat’s stead Wednesday, with Drew Gooden serving as the top backup off the bench.
  • Knee
Date: Jan 12, 2016
Status: OUT
Gortat (knee) is being evaluated in a Washington, D.C. hospital and is uncertain if he’ll be released before Wednesday’s game against the Bucks, J. Michael of CSN Mid-Atlantic reports.Gortat was sidelined from Monday’s game against the Bulls with what was reported to be significant swelling in his left knee. The Wizards are now fearing that Gortat may have developed an infection in the knee, so the team promptly sent him in for tests at the hospital upon returning from the trip to Chicago. While an update on Gortat’s diagnosis hasn’t been passed along by the Wizards yet, at this point, his chances of playing Wednesday don’t seem overly promising. If that’s the case, Nene Hilario would likely make another start at center Wednesday.

Gortat (knee) will sit out Monday’s matchup with the Bulls.Gortat was questionable heading into Monday’s game due to a knee injury, and will not be able to give it ago. • Knee
Date: Jan 11, 2016
Status: OUT
Gortat is nursing a swollen left knee will be a game-time decision for Monday’s contest against the Bulls, J. Michael of CSN Mid-Atlantic reports.Gortat said he sustained the injury in Saturday’s win over the Magic, during which he put up 12 points and 10 boards over 33 minutes. He’s dealing with a large bump on the knee that has prohibited him from even bending it, so there’s a good likelihood that the Wizards end up ruling him out prior to contest. The team will wait and see how Gortat progresses in the afternoon before making that decision, but even if the center is deemed active, he could see his minutes severely limited. With Nene Hilario (triceps) uncertain to play and Kris Humprhries (knee) doubtful to suit up, Drew Gooden could be forced to make the start at center if Gortat can’t go.
  • Knee
Date: Jan 11, 2016
Status: OUT
Coach Randy Wittman believes Gortat is dealing with an infection in his left knee, but there’s still hope he’ll play Wednesday against the Bucks, Jorge Castillo of the Washington Post reports.Gortat apparently suffered a laceration on his knee when he sustained the injury originally, resulting in an infection which caused the center to run a temp Sunday night. The Wizards aren’t overly concerned with the amount of swelling around his knee, and a visit to the hospital isn’t planned, so an update to his status regarding Wednesday’s game should be expected following morning shootaround. If he’s unable to play for a second straight game, Nene will be expected to start as he did Monday against the Bulls.
