Hawes (shoulder) didn’t see the floor in Sunday’s 106-73 Game 7 loss to the Heat.Hawes was surprisingly deemed active for the series finale after the Hornets initially ruled him out for the remainder of the first round, but it appears he was only available in an emergency. With the Heat pushing their lead to 30 points by the end of the third quarter, there was no need for coach Steve Clifford to call Hawes’ number with the game slipping away.

Hawes (shoulder) is going to try and play in Sunday’s Game 7 against the Heat, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.Hawes wasn’t expected to be available at all during the rest of the first-round series against the Heat, but he was upgraded to questionable for Game 7. He’s dealing with a right MCL sprain, but after going through warmups Sunday morning, Hawes is feeling good enough to take the court. Though Hawes will be available, don’t expect him to see major minutes as the Hornets’ fifth big man behind Al Jefferson, Frank Kaminsky, Marvin Williams, and Cody Zeller.
April 28, 2016
Hawes has been ruled out for at least one week after an MRI on Thursday revealed a right MCL sprain.Fortunately the Hornets have the upper hand in their current series with the Heat, leading 3-2, but Hawes won’t be able to return to the court until a potential Round 2 matchup with either the Raptors or Pacers. Either way, Hawes has an ancillary role with the Hornets while playing behind Marvin Williams, Frank Kaminsky, Cody Zeller, and Al Jefferson.
April 28, 2016
Hawes is considered doubtful for Friday’s Game 6 against the Heat due to a right knee sprain, Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer reports.Hawes has played only a minor role off the bench throughout the series, but if he’s ultimately ruled out the Hornets would miss his rebounding and floor-spacing ability. Look for a more definitive update at Friday’s shootaround, and if Hawes sits the likes of Frank Kaminsky and Cody Zeller could each see mild bumps in minutes.
April 9, 2016
Hawes had four points (1-3 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three assists, two rebounds, and one block in 13 minutes during the Hornets’ 113-99 win against the Nets on Friday.Hawes dealt with a back injury for most of March and appeared in only three games. However, he has played in four straight contests during April while averaging 4.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 0.8 blocks in 15 minutes per matchup. Still, Cody Zeller, Al Jefferson, and Frank Kaminsky are all ahead of Hawes on the depth chart, and he is only useful in the deepest fantasy leagues.

Hawes (shoulder) is going to try and play in Sunday’s Game 7 against the Heat, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.Hawes wasn’t expected to be available at all during the rest of the first-round series against the Heat, so this news comes as a surprise. He’s dealing with a right MCL sprain, but after going through warm-ups Sunday morning, Hawes is feeling good enough to take the court. It remains questionable what kind of minutes Hawes will see in his return, but it wouldn’t be surprising if the Hornets decided to limit his playing time a bit. With Hawes back in the lineup, Frank Kaminsky and Marvin Williams could see a slight decrease in minutes.

Hawes (back) is expected to play Tuesday against the Nets.Hawes has been nursing a back injury for the past few weeks, but coach Steve Clifford said he expects the center to be available Tuesday night. Hawes, who has not played in more than a month, has technically been available for each of the last two games, but he has not seen the floor. If he does play Tuesday, he’d likely only see limited action.

Hawes (back) will be available for Saturday’s game against the Nuggets. After a month-long layoff, Hawes will be back in action for Saturday’s contest. Still, Al Jefferson and Frank Kaminsky will likely be the primary options off the bench in front of Hawes against the Nuggets.

In the meantime, Frank Kaminsky and Al Jefferson will continue to serve as the Hornets’ top frontcourt reserves.

Hawes (back) remains at least a week away from returning to practice, Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer reports.Hawes has missed the last five games with a lower-back strain, and he’s now slated to sit out at least another four contests. Look for the Hornets to issue an update early next week, but in the meantime the likes of Frank Kaminsky, Al Jefferson and Cody Zeller will hold down the center position. In Sunday’s loss to Atlanta, all three players split duties relatively evenly, with Zeller playing 23 minutes, Kaminsky 18 and Jefferson 23.

Hawes is dealing with a lower-back strain and is expected to miss at least the next two games, Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer reports.Hawes had been seeing increased minutes while Al Jefferson (knee) was out, but with Jefferson set to return in the near future, possibly as early as Friday against the Bucks, Hawes figures to sink back to a lesser role. Regardless, Hawes is likely to be unavailable Friday, as well as Sunday’s tilt with the Nets. Hawes will not play Saturday against the Grizzlies due to lower back tightness. This news came out right at tip-off Saturday, so those in daily leagues were left with no warning that the Hornets were holding out their backup big man. Hawes (knee) will suit up Monday against the Jazz.Coach Doc Rivers said that Hawes is slated to earn some run, but he’s unsure exactly how much. Hawes (knee) is currently listed as “questionable” for Monday’s game against the Jazz, Dan Woike of the Orange County Register reports.Hawes has missed nine straight games for the Clippers, but it looks as if the 7-foot-1 forward could be nearing a return. When he returns, he should take on a very similar role. As long as Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan are healthy, Hawes won’t get enough minutes to be of use in standard leagues.

Hawes (knee) is dealing with a bone bruise on his knee but is without a return timetable.False reports surfaced earlier in the week suggesting Hawes could miss the rest of the season, but the veteran refuted those reports, instead stating that the injury is actually healing well. “It’s progressing, though,” Hawes said. “It’s going the right direction. That’s what I’m most encouraged by. The range of motion’s better, the pain’s going down. It’s responding to everything we’ve done treatment-wise and what we’ve done to try to test it out. Walking easier, got rid of my limp, so things are looking up.” Look for further updates on Hawes’ status in the near future, but for now it would seem safe to rule him out for at least the Clippers’ next two games Friday (Denver) and Saturday (Milwaukee).
