C Ryan Hollins was waived on Thursday.
Hollins appeared in 32 games (nine starts) for the Grizzlies this season and had made nine starts. He averaged 3.6 points and 2.7 rebounds in 12.9 minutes.
The 31-year-old has averaged 3.7 points and 2.2 rebounds in 11.8 minutes in 518 games over a 10-year NBA career with the Charlotte Bobcats, Dallas Mavericks, Minnesota Timberwolves, Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Clippers, Sacramento Kings, Washington Wizards and Memphis Grizzlies.

Hollins was waived by the Grizzlies on Thursday, Kevin Lipe of the Memphis Flyer reports.Hollis had played only six minutes over the Grizzlies’ last four games, but his release still comes as somewhat of a surprise given the team’s injury issues. Regardless, the Grizzlies are apparently comfortable going forth with Chris Andersen, Zach Randolph, JaMychal Green, and Jarell Martin as their frontcourt options as the postseason approaches. The 31-year-old Hollins, who previously spent time with the Wizards, appeared in 32 games for the Grizzlies, making nine starts and averaging 3.6 points and 2.7 rebounds in 12.9 minutes.

Hollins returned to a bench role in Tuesday’s 107-100 loss to the Lakers and played just four minutes. He recorded no points and two boards during his time on the floor.Chris Andersen (shoulder) returned to action and immediately reclaimed his spot in the starting five, resulting in Hollins heading to the bench for the first time in nine games. Hollins had already seen his minutes decline when Zach Randolph (knee) rejoined the frontcourt over the weekend, and Andersen’s arrival only further hurts his already minimal fantasy value.

Hollins tallied 10 points (4-7 FG, 2-4 FT) and eight rebounds over 26 minutes in Monday’s 130-81 loss to the Rockets.The point and rebound totals were season highs for Hollins, who has played 20-plus minutes in four of the Grizzlies’ last five games as a byproduct of the team’s mounting injuries. He should have some staying power in the rotation with Marc Gasol (foot) out for the season and Brandan Wright (knee) and Chris Andersen (shoulder) looking at lengthier absences, but don’t expect Hollins to flirt with double-doubles very frequently.
