April 24, 2016
Martin is dealing with an illness and will not play in Sunday’s Game 4 against the Grizzlies, Jabari Young of San Antonio Express-News reports.Martin went into Friday’s Game 3 available to play, but was eventually held out because of an illness. He’s still feeling some lingering effects and will sit out of Sunday’s Game 4 as well. The illness likely won’t keep Martin out for long and if the Spurs finish off the sweep Sunday, the earliest they could start the second round is next Saturday, which means Martin should have nearly a week off for recovery.
April 20, 2016
Martin scored 10 points (3-4 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 2-3 FT) to go with one assist and one rebound across 17 minutes in Tuesday’s 94-68 win over the Grizzlies in Game 2 of the series.By virtue of the Spurs throttling the Grizzlies in both of the first two games of the series, Martin has been able to see some increased shot attempts while coming off the bench, leading to back-to-back 10-point outings. While he was once one of the game’s top scoring guards during his prime, Martin seems content to settle into a role as a low-minute three-point shooter off the bench, which will limit his production more often than not.
April 18, 2016
G Kevin Martin scored 10 points for the Spurs Sunday, all in the fourth quarter.
April 9, 2016
Martin poured in 17 points (5-11 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 5-5 FT) and added six rebounds and a steal over 26 minutes in Friday’s 102-98 loss to the Nuggets. The 12-year veteran put together his best effort since being acquired in a trade with the Timberwolves at the end of February. Always a potentially dangerous marksman, Martin connected on a pair of threes while also doing some solid work on the glass. While the minutes boost was encouraging, Martin may see his playing time reduced if coach Gregg Popovich returns to his regular rotation for the Spurs next contest versus the Warriors on Sunday.
March 25, 2016
Martin will draw the start in Friday’s matchup with the Grizzlies, Paul Garcia of Project Spurs reports.Martin will snatch the start due to Danny Green sitting this one out. The Spurs are resting a few players Friday, which has resulted in Martin becoming an intriguing DFS play. He posted 12 points, one rebound, one assist, and two triples in 15 minutes during his last outing.

Martin did not play in Tuesday’s game against the Timberwolves. It’s unclear what, exactly, is going on with the situation, as the Spurs did not comment on Martin’s availability in advance of Tuesday’s game. The two sides reportedly agreed to a deal over the weekend, but it’s possible there’s some sort of hangup as Martin makes his way over from Minnesota. An update figures to come sometime Wednesday, and it remains unclear whether Martin will be available for Thursday’s matchup with the Bulls.

Martin (coach’s decision) won’t be available for Monday’s game against the Pacers, Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News reports.Though he’s agreed to terms on a contract with the Spurs, Martin hasn’t officially been added to the roster, as the team still needs to cut another player to make room for the veteran shooting guard. As a result, Martin didn’t make the trip with the team to Indianapolis, and will remain away from the squad until his deal becomes official. Rasual Butler and Matt Bonner appear most at risk of losing out on a roster spot to Martin.

Martin (wrist) has been upgraded to probable for Friday’s game against the Grizzlies.Martin returned to practice on Wednesday after dealing with a sore wrist prior to the All-Star break. It comes as no surprise then that the Timberwolves expect Martin to be available to play Friday. Despite the fact that he’s healthy, it appears Martin has fallen out of the Wolves’ regular rotation and could struggle to field meaningful minutes. He’s notched 16 minutes or less in each of his last four games.

Status: OUT
Martin (wrist) is considered questionable to play Friday against the Grizzlies.Martin returned to practice Wednesday, and his questionable designation suggests he may be available off the bench in a limited capacity Friday. Martin (wrist) returned to practice Wednesday for the Timberwolves.Martin missed nine consecutive games heading into the All Star break due to a sore wrist, but returning to practice can obviously be considered a good sign. If he is able to return to action, his role with the team is somewhat in question due to how good Zach Lavine played in his absence. It would make sense that Minnesota would want to give their younger players with potential more opportunities on the court than their aging veterans, but the situation will have to be monitored going forward. Martin is day-to-day going forward.

The Wolves play Wednesday against the Raptors in their final game prior to the All-Star break.

There doesn’t appear to be a clear timetable for the veterans return but his next chance to take the court would be on Sunday when the Timberwolves take on the Trail Blazers. Martin (hamstring) is questionable for Wednesday’s game against the Lakers.Shortly before Monday’s game against the Jazz, it was announced that Martin would not be in the starting lineup due to a hamstring injury. He didn’t end up getting into the game, as the Timberwolves went with a seven-man rotation featuring heavy doses of Zach LaVine, Lorenzo Brown and Chase Budinger. While Martin seemingly stands a chance to return for Wednesday’s game, the Timberwolves are much better off losing the contest, though they may not acknowledge that reality. If he does play, Martin won’t necessarily get minutes in the high-30s or low-40s the way he often has in recent games.
