Barnes has agreed to a deal with the Kings, Marc Stein of ESPN reports.There is no word yet how much the deal is worth or for how long Barnes will be signed to Sacramento, but for now we know that Barnes is headed to the Kings. Barnes spent the 2015-16 season with the Grizzlies, where he averaged 10.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.0 blocks in 29 minutes per game. The 36-year-old swingman should provide depth and experience on the wing to a Kings roster lacking both.

Barnes scored 15 points (6-13 FG, 2-3 FT, 1-5 3Pt) to go along with seven rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block in a whopping 45 minutes during Sunday’s loss to the Spurs.The veteran chipped in across the board Sunday, but he struggled from downtown as Memphis tried and failed to keep pace with the Spurs in the third quarter. Barnes finishes the series with averages 10.8 points, seven rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.3 steals. He will be an unrestricted free agent this summer, and it is unclear at this time whether Memphis intends to retain his services.

The Spurs’ defense is simply one of the best the NBA has ever seen, and the Grizzlies are overmatched without Mike Conley (Achilles) and Marc Gasol (foot). This is forcing Barnes and other role players to shoulder an offensive load that is outside of their comfort zones, and it will be exceedingly difficult for Memphis to compete closely with San Antonio in either of the next two contests.
