Price's deal worth $5.5 million Thursday 9/2, 3:53 PM CT
Updating an earlier item, Carey Price's two-year extension with the Canadiens is worth $5.5 million, according to USA Today's Kevin Allen.

Rototimes View: A good deal for both sides. Still just 23 years old, Price could be in line to really cash in two summers from now.
Habs extend Carey Price Thursday 9/2, 3:13 PM CT
According to CBC's Jeff Marek, the Canadiens have signed goalie Carey Price to a two-year contract extension.

Rototimes View: With Antti Niemi now a Shark, the Habs didn't really have any other option. In 41 games (39 starts) a season ago, he posted a 13-20-5 record to go along with a .912 save percentage.
Niemi now a SharkThursday 9/2, 2:27 PM CT
Antti Niemi has signed a 1-year deal to move from the team with the 2nd best record in the Western Conference (the Blackahwks) to the team with the best (the Sharks), according to the San Jose Sharks Official website.

Rototimes View: Niemi will battle Antero Niittymaki for time in net with the Sharks who are looking to replace Evgeni Nabokov who decided to finish his playing career in the KHL. Niemi figures to have the upper hand in net over Niittymaki, but who performs better will likely be the determining factor in who is on the ice the majority of the time for the Sharks.
Jordan Staal still slowed by foot Thursday 9/2, 12:33 PM CT
According to Kevin Allen of USA Today, Jordan Staal (foot) "will miss the start of training camp, but will be ready for the start of the NHL season."

Rototimes View: He was hobbled all throughout the playoffs, and has now taken the entire offseason to heal. He's a risky mid-round pick.
