Rototimes View: Morgan's under the microscope for actions involving a fan in mid-August, running into a backup catcher for the Cardinals, running into Brett Hayes, and charging the mound last night. With all of that taken into consideration, Olney believes the suspension could extend beyond 10 games.

Updating an earlier item, Troy Tulowitzki (groin) is in Colorado's Thursday evening lineup, according to Troy Renck of the Denver Post. He will bat cleanup.

Rototimes View: The Rockies appear to be playing with fire, as any worsening of Tulo's groin injury would almost certainly require a stint on the disabled list. With every game now a must win, however, they are willing to take that chance.

According to the Denver Post's Troy Renck, Troy Tulowitzki (groin) expects to play on Thursday against the Phillies.

According to Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald, John Baker has decided to undergo Tommy John surgery on his ailing elbow.

According to the Kansas City Star's Sam Mellinger, elite hitting prospect Mike Moustakas is unlikely to make his Royals debut before the middle of next summer.

Rototimes View: Recently named Kansas City's minor-league hitter of the year, the club thinks he needs to work on his plate discipline just a little bit longer before earning a recall. However, if he has an impressive spring training or absolutely tears the cover off the ball in Triple-A next April, he could be called up before the 2011 calendar flips to June.
A-Rod fires Boras Thursday 9/2, 11:42 AM CT
Alex Rodriguez has fired long-time agent Scott Boras, according to NBC Sports.

Rototimes View: Of course, Boras' work has already been done here, so to speak, as A-Rod has netted two separate 10-year contracts since 2000. His new agent, Pittsburgh attorney Jay Reisinger, should have considerably less to do and accomplish with A-Rod than Boras did.

Although Troy Tulowitzki (groin) was able to start on Wednesday evening, he was "favoring" his left leg the entire game, according to the Denver Post.

If you are an owner, you need to be prepared to be without Morgan for at least 10 games this month.

Rototimes View: In nine games (seven starts) since the All-Star break, he has gone 3-2 with a 5.73 ERA and 1.59 WHIP. However, the Yanks have liked what they've seen in his recent bullpen sessions, and he could be a good spot-start candidate this weekend. Of course, he could also allow four home runs in three innings of work. Proceed with caution.

Daric Barton is not in Oakland's Thursday afternoon lineup, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.

According to ESPN's Buster Olney, Aroldis Chapman threw a 103.9 mile-per-hour fastball on Wednesday evening. It was the fastest recorded in baseball this season.

Rototimes View: There's a possibility it was the fastest pitch ever thrown in a major league game. Nolan Ryan and Bob Feller may both dispute that assessment, but unfortunately for them, the radar gun technology is much better now that it was the 1940s and 1970s.
Franklin Gutierrez doubles, drives in oneThursday 9/2, 12:05 AM CT
Franklin Gutierrez doubled and drove in one run as Seattle fell to the Angels 4-2 Wednesday.
