Newsbreakers
Jeff Taffe, WMonday 7/21, 11:18 AM CT
The Penguins have re-signed Jeff Taffe to a one-year deal, according to the Sports Network. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Our View:He contributed five goals and seven assists over 45 games with the Penguins last season.
Sidney Crosby, CFriday 7/18, 5:55 PM CT
Pittsburgh head coach Michel Therrien has received a new three-year contract after leading Sidney Crosby and the rest of the Penguins to the Stanley Cup Finals, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Therrien gets to coach Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, which certainly makes his job easier. Still, he gets the most out of their talent and now gets the opportunity to continue to do so for the next three seasons.
Danny Richmond, DThursday 7/17, 3:51 PM CT
The Penguins have acquired the rights to defenseman Danny Richmond from the Blackhawks in exchange for Tim Brent, according to the AP.

Our View:The 23-year-old Richmond failed to register any points over seven games with Chicago last season. Richmond remains behind the curve as a prospect, and won't likely hold much fantasy value next season.
