Ray McDonald, DE Thursday 7/22, 5:37 PM CT Ray McDonald pleaded not guilty to driving under the influence on Thursday, according to the Associated Press. Our View:McDonald was arrested for driving 94 miles per hour in San Mateo County on June 12. A pretrial conference has been set for Sept. 28 and a jury trial for Oct. 18, if he does not resolve the case. If convicted, he faces up to six months in prison.

Aubrayo Franklin, DT Wednesday 7/14, 6:21 PM CT Aubrayo Franklin will not get an extension worked out for Aubrayo Franklin before Thursday's deadline for franchised players to do so, according to Jason La Canfora of NFL.com. Our View:La Canfora is reporting that a team official said there is "no chance" of getting a deal done in time. Franklin was a pleasant surprise as the nose tackle in San Francisco's 3-4 defense last season, and the team had hoped to secure him for the long haul before the start of the season.

Josh Morgan, WR Tuesday 7/6, 2:36 PM CT Josh Morgan is expected to start for San Francisco this season, both this year and in the long term, according to CSN Bay Area. Our View:The 49ers like what they have in Morgan. He'll still be no better than the third option behind Michael Crabtree and Vernon Davis, but as long as he gets consistent snaps, he should be productive enough to be a bench receiver on most fantasy teams.
