Newsbreakers
Dan Carpenter, KTuesday 7/27, 4:30 PM CT
The Dolphins signed kicker Dan Carpenter to a three-year, $6.21 million extension on Tuesday, according to Alain Poupart of Scout.com.

Our View:Carpenter's new deal keeps him in Miami through the 2013 season with a contract worth as much as most signed by established vets. He's earned it after nailing 46-of-53 field goals over his first two NFL seasons.
Brandon Marshall, WRMonday 7/26, 12:06 PM CT
Brandon Marshall (hip) is expected to be a full participant when training camp opens this week, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View:It sounds like fantasy owners do not have to worry about his health. Now, it will be interesting to see what type of chemistry he develops with Chad Henne.
Chad Pennington, QBSunday 7/25, 8:58 AM CT
Chad Pennington is not in contention to be the Dolphins backup quarterback, according to Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

Our View:The Dolphins are obviously going with Chad Henne under center this season, but it looks like shoulder issues have forced Pennington into nothing more than a veteran mentor role. Tyler Thigpen is the early favorite to win the backup job considering Pat White's development is still moving slowly.
