The Colts and Peyton Manning are taking things slow when it comes to extending his contract, according to Pro Football Talk.

RotoTimes.com: Bill Polian said that he's been talking to Manning's agent, Tom Condon, but slowly, because both sides are trying to work out a deal that will stand no matter what happens with Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations. This means that Manning could enter the season with no extension. Of course, the Colts could always just franchise him.

Peyton Manning participated in Colts practice on Friday for the first time since undergoing minor neck surgery in March, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

RotoTimes.com: So unlike with his knee injury from a few offseasons back, his recovery will not linger into training camp. Expect another monumental season from football's best player in 2010.

ESPN.com reports that Peyton Manning (neck surgery) will be cleared for participation in offseason workouts sometime in the near future.

RotoTimes.com: Manning should be fine for training camp, as the surgery was successful. Jim Caldwell stated, "He's in good shape. He'll be fine. He's coming along and we anticipate he'll be able to do the things required of him during the offseason (including being ready to throw at OTAs). He has a new offensive coordinator at the helm, but we expect him to be just as dominant.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Peyton Manning has undergone a minor neck operation to relieve pain related to a pinched nerve.

RotoTimes.com: This is the first time any sort of Manning neck injury has been mentioned, but the club insists it is not serious. Hopefully it does not hamper him in training camp the way his knee injury did in 2008. Stay tuned.

Peyton Manning went 31-of-45 for 333 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the Colts' Super Bowl loss on Sunday.

RotoTimes.com: Manning played well, but unfortunately it wasn't enough to overcome the Saints. Manning's fourth quarter interception that was returned for a touchdown by Tracy Porter proved to be the deciding play in the game, though you can be sure that he'll be one of the top quarterbacks in the league once again next year.
