Newsbreakers
Vladimir Guerrero, DH Tuesday 9/7, 10:02 PM CT
Vladimir Guerrero went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Texas' 8-5 loss to the Blue Jays.

Rototimes.com: He now has 102 through 131 games this season. The 100-RBI campaign is the 10th of his illustrious MLB career.
Cliff Lee, P Tuesday 9/7, 8:50 AM CT
Cliff Lee (back) is tentatively scheduled to start against the Yankees this weekend, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Rototimes.com: Lee's start is being skipped today, but he should be good to go by his next turn on Sunday. Still, given his health, his recent struggles, and the strength of the Yankees' lineup, we'd probably keep Lee on our bench.
Tommy Hunter, P Monday 9/6, 2:53 PM CT
Tommy Hunter gave up seven runs over seven innings against the Blue Jays on Monday.

Rototimes.com: Hunter was taken deep three times. He had won his previous three starts but simply didn't have it going today.
Alex Cora, 2B Monday 9/6, 12:28 PM CT
The Rangers have designated Alex Cora for assignment, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Rototimes.com: He was no longer needed with Ian Kinsler back from the DL. Esteban German was recalled in his place.
Esteban German, 2B Monday 9/6, 12:27 PM CT
The Rangers have recalled Esteban German from the minors, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Rototimes.com: German hit .280 for Triple-A Oklahoma City this season. He'll provide depth in the Rangers' outfield.
Scott Feldman, P Monday 9/6, 8:24 AM CT
Scott Feldman (knee) is likely to start for the Rangers on Tuesday, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Rototimes.com: Cliff Lee (back) will not be able to go on Tuesday, and it sounds like Feldman will be activated in time to make the start. With a 5.43 ERA and 1.59 WHIP this season, he's hardly worth a look from fantasy owners.
Cliff Lee, P Sunday 9/5, 1:59 PM CT
According to Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Cliff Lee (back) will not make his scheduled start Tuesday.

Rototimes.com: Despite feeling improvement in his back after a short bullpen session today, Lee won't go Tuesday. There's no decision yet on whether he'll be pushed back or skipped entirely. Scott Feldman will go for him Tuesday, and if Lee is skipped he'll likely return Sunday against the Yankees.
Elvis Andrus, SS Sunday 9/5, 1:21 PM CT
Updating an earlier item, Elvis Andrus (hamstring) could miss another two to three days with tightness, according to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News.

Rototimes.com: Tightness in his hamstring forced him to leave Saturday's game. Cristian Guzman replaced Andrus yesterday, and he'll start for him again Sunday.
Cliff Lee, P Sunday 9/5, 12:47 PM CT
According to Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Cliff Lee (back) threw a bullpen session Sunday.

Rototimes.com: Lee's been as bad as he's ever been lately, and that's caused the Rangers to have his lower back poked and prodded. The medical attention was just precautionary, but it's still nice to see him throw a successful pen session. Even if it was a very limited session.
Josh Hamilton, LF Sunday 9/5, 11:03 AM CT
Josh Hamilton (ribs) is expected to miss "several games," according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Rototimes.com: Hamilton is complaining that his ribs hurt worse this time than they did after a similar injury a season ago. That means he could miss more than a week, and the area doesn't seem to be healing quickly. Considering he's also dealt with knee and back issues this year, some much-needed rest might be the best prescription.
Colby Lewis, P Saturday 9/4, 7:11 PM CT
Colby Lewis got knocked back to the stone ages against the Twins on Saturday, allowing eight hits and nine runs in just 3.2 innings of work in Texas' 12-4 loss. He struck out two and walked two.

Rototimes.com: He's now allowed 15 runs in his past 9.1 innings of work. After pitching in Japan the past two seasons, he's obviously hit a late-season wall.
Ian Kinsler, 2B Saturday 9/4, 7:09 PM CT
Ian Kinsler went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Texas' 12-4 loss to the Twins on Saturday.

Rototimes.com: Obviously, the bomb was his first since coming off of the disabled list on Friday. It was just his seventh of the season in 78 games.
Josh Hamilton, LF Saturday 9/4, 6:34 PM CT
According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, "oufielder Josh Hamilton was taken to a nearby hospital for precautionary X-rays on his ribs after running to the wall in right-center field in the third inning (on Saturday)."

Rototimes.com: Already dealing with an injured back and knee, Hamilton has to be making the Rangers very nervous. Don't be surprised if he sits out all week with the American League West being already wrapped up.
Elvis Andrus, SS Saturday 9/4, 4:14 PM CT
Elvis Andrus was forced from Texas' Saturday afternoon game with "tightness in his hamstrings," according to Evan P. Grant of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Rototimes.com: He was replaced by Cristian Guzman. He was most likely just cramping. Expect an update this evening.
Frank Francisco, P Saturday 9/4, 12:35 PM CT
Frank Francisco (strained right lat) could potentially be out the rest of the season, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Rototimes.com: The former closer may be able to return by playoff time. Still, it sounds safe to drop him in all fantasy leagues if you hadn't already done so a long, long time ago.
Josh Hamilton, LF Saturday 9/4, 12:32 PM CT
Josh Hamilton (back) is in Texas' lineup and starting in center field on Saturday, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Jeff Wilson.

Rototimes.com: Hamilton tweaked his back yesterday but is apparently feeling fine today. Needless to say, be sure that the fantasy superstar is in your lineup today.
Josh Hamilton, LF Friday 9/3, 11:21 PM CT
Josh Hamilton's back injury was only a "momentary twinge," and he should be back in Texas' lineup on Saturday, according to Evan P. Grant of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Rototimes.com: Even if he's fine, expect the Rangers to give him the day off. It's going to be hard enough to keep him healthy headed into the playoffs as it is.
Derek Holland, P Friday 9/3, 10:49 PM CT
Derek Holland allowed six hits and four runs in 6.1 innings of work on Friday evening, falling to 2-3 on the year as Texas lost 4-3 in Minnesota. He struck out five and walked one.

Rototimes.com: Not a great outing, but about as good as you could have expected from Texas' fill-in hurler. He'll get the Blue Jays his next time out.
Josh Hamilton, LF Friday 9/3, 10:42 PM CT
Josh Hamilton was forced from Texas' game against the Twins in the eighth inning on Friday evening with lower-back stiffness, according to Evan P. Grant of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Rototimes.com: This, three days after he received a cortisone injection in his ailing knee. He will almost certainly not be in the lineup on Saturday. Stay tuned.
Taylor Teagarden, C Friday 9/3, 2:29 PM CT
The Rangers have recalled Taylor Teagarden from the minors, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Rototimes.com: He'll serve as the team's emergency third catcher and figures to get very little playing time.
Clay Rapada, P Friday 9/3, 2:28 PM CT
The Rangers have recalled Clay Rapada from the minors, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Rototimes.com: He's posted a 1.82 ERA and Triple-A Oklahoma City this season. He could prove to be a valuable asset in their bullpen down the stretch.
Dustin Nippert, P Friday 9/3, 2:27 PM CT
The Rangers have activated Dustin Nippert (head) off the DL, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Rototimes.com: He's posted a 5.36 ERA this season and will be used in middle relief.
Cliff Lee, P Thursday 9/2, 2:52 PM CT
According to Fox Sports' Jim Bowden, Rangers ace Cliff Lee "is on his way back to Texas" to have his stiff lower back looked at.

Rototimes.com: Although the move is only precautionary, Rangers fans should be holding their breathe. Obviously, a serious injury for Lee could derail Texas' entire postseason. Stay tuned.
Neftali Feliz, P Wednesday 9/1, 10:11 PM CT
Neftali Feliz picked up a save for Texas with a perfect ninth inning in a 4-3 win over the Royals Wednesday.

Rototimes.com: Feliz now has 34 saves this season, and he hasn't allowed a run in his past five appearances. His ERA has fallen to 3.26 over that time, and he's blown only one save over his past 10 outings.
Tommy Hunter, P Wednesday 9/1, 10:09 PM CT
Tommy Hunter moved to 12-2 on the season by holding the Royals to two runs through 5.2 innings in a 4-3 win.

Rototimes.com: Hunter allowed seven hits, one homer and four walks in an ugly win Wednesday, but it still counts. He chipped in with three Ks, and his ERA dropped to 3.64. He's now lowered that mark with each of his past three starts.
Cliff Lee, P Wednesday 9/1, 9:37 PM CT
Cliff Lee's next start has been pushed to Tuesday, according to T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com.

Rototimes.com: Lee headed to Wednesday to receive a cortisone shot in his stiff lower back. He'll go Tuesday if the medicine takes, and he could use the extra rest. Tommy Hunter will take his place Monday on four days rest.
Josh Hamilton, LF Wednesday 9/1, 6:39 PM CT
Updating an earlier item, Josh Hamilton (knee) hopes to return to the outfield Friday, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Rototimes.com: Hamilton was scratched from Wednesday's game after receiving a lubricant shot in the ailing knee Tuesday. He's been in the lineup as the DH lately, but he's hoping the knee will allow him to head back to full-time duty by the end of the week. However, with the Rangers leading the AL West by a healthy margin, there's no guarantee that he'll see the field so soon.
Josh Hamilton, LF Wednesday 9/1, 5:48 PM CT
Josh Hamilton (knee) is not in the Rangers lineup Wednesday, according to the Associated Press.

Rototimes.com: Hamilton received a lubricant shot in his knee yesterday, and he wasn't expected to play today. He'll likely DH for the near future before getting some significant rest throughout September.
Cliff Lee, P Wednesday 9/1, 5:12 PM CT
Cliff Lee flew back to Dallas Wednesday to receive a cortisone shot in his lower back, according to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News.

Rototimes.com: The shot was intended to relieve some lower back stiffness, and it's not known if Lee will make his next start as scheduled. Lee was pretty bad in August, as evidenced by his 6.35 ERA last month, and the Rangers would be wise to give him as much rest as possible.
Pedro Strop, P Wednesday 9/1, 3:41 PM CT
The Rangers have recalled Pedro Strop from the minors, according to ESPN.com.

Rototimes.com: Look for him to be used in middle relief, though his outings will be spare, at least initially.
Cristian Guzman, 2B Wednesday 9/1, 3:40 PM CT
The Rangers have activated Cristian Guzman (quad) from the DL, according to ESPN.com.

Rototimes.com: Guzman will resume his role as a utility infielder. He has little to no fantasy value right now.
Ian Kinsler, 2B Wednesday 9/1, 3:39 PM CT
The Rangers have activated Ian Kinsler (groin) from the DL, according to ESPN.com.

Rototimes.com: He's been out with a strained left groin since July 29. He'll remain on the sideline today and return to the Rangers' lineup on Friday. Be ready to get him back into your fantasy lineup next week.
