Newsbreakers
Trevor Cahill, PWednesday 7/28, 9:57 PM CT
Trevor Cahill allowed just two hits in eight scoreless innings of work on Wednesday night, improving to 10-4 on the season in Oakland's 3-1 victory over the Rangers. He struck out four and walked three.

Our View:Through 116.2 innings of work, he now owns a 2.93 ERA and sterling 1.01 WHIP. Still just 22 years old, he appears to be the real deal.
Kurt Suzuki, CWednesday 7/28, 9:51 PM CT
Kurt Suzuki went 2-for-4 with his 12th home run of the season on Wednesday, helping the A's to a 3-1 win over the Rangers.

Our View:Since signing his lucrative contract extension last Friday, Suzuki has driven in eight runs in five games. Very reassuring for Oakland's front office.
Andrew Bailey, PWednesday 7/28, 5:15 PM CT
According to the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser, Andrew Bailey (back) will be unavaialble on Wednesday night.

Our View:Apparently his bullpen session did not go perfect today. Day-to-day, Michael Wuertz is closing in his absence.
