Newsbreakers
Randy Wells, PWednesday 7/28, 4:27 PM CT
Randy Wells allowed five hits and three runs in 5.2 innings of work on Wednesday afternoon, falling to 5-8 on the year in Chicago's 8-1 loss to Houston. He struck out four and walked five.

Our View:The five walks were a season high. He's too inconsistent to be worth a permanent roster spot in most mixed leagues.
Ted Lilly, PWednesday 7/28, 3:53 PM CT
There are rumors about a possible deal between the Cubs and Phillies that would send Ted Lilly to Philadelphia in exchange for J.A. Happ, according to AOL Fanhouse's Ed Price.

Our View:This deal would make some sense, given that the Phillies are contenders this season while the Cubs are not. Lilly and Happ are both lefties that pitch a similar style of baseball, though Lilly is a bit better right now while Happ is 6.5 years younger.
Derrek Lee, 1BWednesday 7/28, 1:32 PM CT
Derrek Lee has a no-trade clause in his contract and would like to remain a member of the Cubs, according to ESPN.com.

Our View:The Rangers and Angels have both made offers to the Cubs for Lee, but it sounds like he'll remain in Chicago this season. He's out of today's lineup but should be back on Friday.
